Birth doulas are the people who hold your hand through all the unknowns, stresses, and joys of childbearing and labor.
My job is not to simply help you get through birth, but to walk with you from pregnancy through postpartum as you become a parent.
Empowerment, education, and hands-on care are something a doula can provide in a way no one else can. Whether that means teaching you about how your body is changing in pregnancy or cooking you a meal postpartum, a doula’s role is always to help you step into yours.
About me, Doula Beginnings
In 2001 my first child was born. I knew that I was called to help pregnant women and their families soon after and completed my first DONA training course in mid 2002. We added additions to our family in '03, '06 and '08. All three born at home and the last two being water births. I served as a doula on and off during my child bearing years. But after the birth of my last son in 2008 I knew that I wanted to stay home and enjoy all of the moments with them that I could.
I've missed attending births since my last in 2012. In 2022 tragedy struck and my middle son was killed in a car accident as he drove home from a soccer tournament. He was my rainbow baby, the next 6 months were difficult to endure. I knew that I had to keep moving forward for my other children.
In 2023 I began sitting for Bothwell Regional hospital as a constant observer. In early 2024 I obtained my CNA. For the next year I became a Emergency Room Tech. And though I have found all of that very fulfilling my heart always comes back to pregnancy and birth.
I hold certificates in BLS and CPR.
I am now ready to start serving women again in that capacity. To be able to help you as a Mother or Father to bring your baby into the world in a way that will make you feel empowered at the most magical beginning of life.
